Building healthier, educated and empowered communities.

Our Work

Practical support. Sustainable opportunity.

The Foundation concentrates on four areas of work. Each one addresses a real and immediate need; together they are intended to leave people better equipped than we found them.

Overview

Four focus areas that work together

Education, healthcare, capacity building and humanitarian care are not separate concerns in the lives of the people we serve. A health crisis interrupts schooling; lost schooling limits skills; missing skills make the next crisis harder to absorb. We treat the four as connected because they are.

Focus Area 01

Education & Learning

Free qualitative education and access to learning opportunities for disadvantaged and underserved people.

This is the area of work everything else tends to lead back to. A person who has been able to learn is better placed to protect their health, to acquire a skill, and to recover from a setback without losing everything.

Focus Area 02

Healthcare & Healthy Living

Healthcare support, health awareness and the encouragement of positive lifestyles, particularly among youths and vulnerable members of society.

Much of the harm caused by poor health in underserved communities is not caused by untreatable conditions. It is caused by treatment arriving late, or not at all.

Focus Area 03

Skills & Capacity Building

Skills development, knowledge and capacity-building initiatives designed to improve productivity and promote self-reliance.

This is the work that changes a person’s relationship with support altogether. Assistance meets a need as it arises; capacity changes what a person is able to do about the next one.

Focus Area 04

Humanitarian Care & Support

Practical support, relief, care and essential assistance for vulnerable individuals and families.

Hardship is rarely a single event. It arrives as a sequence: an illness, then lost income, then a child out of school. Intervening early keeps a difficult period from becoming a permanent decline.

Cross-Cutting Principles

Six principles that apply to every area

Whatever the focus area, the same commitments hold. They are drawn directly from the Foundation’s stated values and objectives.

01

Dignity

The self-respect of the people we serve is protected in every engagement.

02

Inclusion

Support is directed by need, regardless of background or circumstances.

03

Self-Reliance

Immediate help is paired, wherever possible, with lasting capability.

04

Healthy Living

Wellbeing is encouraged across every area of the Foundation's work.

05

Sustainability

We favour work that continues to matter after our involvement ends.

06

Accountability

We expect to explain our decisions and answer for them.

Help us take this work further.

Support, volunteering and partnership each begin the same way — with a conversation about what is actually needed.
