Healthcare & Healthy Living

Health support, and the awareness that prevents harm.

Healthcare support, health awareness and the encouragement of positive lifestyles, particularly among youths and vulnerable members of society.

Introduction

Care that arrives early enough to matter

The Foundation works to support access to healthcare and to promote healthy living among youths and less privileged members of society, through health awareness, positive lifestyles and personal development.

Much of the harm caused by poor health in underserved communities is not caused by untreatable conditions. It is caused by treatment arriving late, or not at all.

The Need

Why health support and awareness matter

When someone delays seeking help — because of cost, distance, uncertainty or the fear of being treated poorly — a manageable problem has time to become a serious one. The consequences are rarely limited to the individual: a household can lose its income at the same moment its costs rise.

Awareness carries as much weight as treatment. Knowing what a symptom means, what prevention looks like and where to go changes outcomes long before any clinical care is involved. That is particularly true for young people, whose habits are still forming.

Much of the harm caused by poor health is not caused by untreatable conditions, but by treatment arriving late.

Our Approach

How we approach this work

Four commitments that shape how this work is carried out.

Values guiding this work

  • Compassion
  • Healthy Living
  • Respect and Dignity
See all eight core values
  1. Prevention alongside support

Awareness and healthy living are treated as part of the work, not as an afterthought to it.

  2. Young people first

Particular attention is given to youths, because habits formed early tend to hold.

  3. Respect at the point of need

No one should have to give up their dignity in order to receive help with their health.

  4. Honest about our role

The Foundation supports access to healthcare and promotes healthy living. Clinical treatment remains the responsibility of qualified health services.
